A bake sale and similar events to gather money as a jeans day. Is necessary to do several events as we want to buy clothes and toys and even to hire entertainment (for one of these places).
o NON UNIFORM DAY: as one of the fund raising events for the project, we want to request the 26th of November for a non uniform day. It will involve both primary and secondary students and teachers. It will cost $1.00 but we are open to larger contributions. We want to use the money to buy food and clothing essentially anything that has not been already contributed or food that cant be stored for long periods. The non-uniform day should be announced in the bulletin on Monday 24th of November and also on secondary’s assembly on that same day, while primary and secondary parents should be informed through emails and bulletins.
o BAKE SALE: we want to organize a bake sale on 14th of November. Cakes, lemonade and other things will be sold on that day on both break and lunch, it includes primary and secondary. Everything that is sold will be contributed from students, nothing that we buy. The bake sale should be announced through the week, on the 10th of November’s assembly of secondary and through emails and bulletins sent to parents.
o CRAFTS SALE: We have been making items of handicrafts to sell them on the school. We would like to sell these through all the month, from the 10th of November until the 5th of December, as it is the day before we are going to deliver the contributions. This will include primary and secondary. It was announced on the secondary assembly of the 27th of October and emails and bulletins should be sent to parents on Wednesday the 29th of October. Informing of the campaigns and the crafts sale. - Primary students also should be informed, with a bulletin for their parents, so they also can be involved in the campaign.
- To motivate students, a prize will be awarded for every class in which every student contributes with something for the campaign.
- The group of students should be no more than 8 students, I will announce around the 2 week of November that we need volunteer students for the campaign. The time they spend on the campaign will account for service hours; I had already talked about it with Mr. Flynn, who accepted this will count for CAS hours and service of the IYA.
The campaign will last from the first week of October until the last week of November. In the beginning of December a group of volunteer students and me will visit several facilities in which we would deliver the food and other things collected during these months. Also we would spend some time playing with the children and having some valuable time with them.
I had already made some contacts with the orphanage “Corporacion Para sus niños”. Further information on the place and the number of children will be given after the half-term vacations.
